my doctor gives me the option to be induced a day before my due date so baby comes on his due date. I see alot of posts about waiting till 42 weeks! Would you rather be induced at 39+6 or possibly go into lador naturally by 41+6?

depends. I'm currently 40w 3d pregnant. won't be induced until 41w 5d. seems like forever from now. but its 9 days. in 2 years I wont remember 9 days. but I will remember if something goes wrong, you feel me? if your body isn't quite ready yet, then there's a much higher risk of Csection. my scar will remind me of my impatience and the fact I forced baby out. heaven forbid something happen to baby, even minor, I dont know if I could handle it. then there's also knowing baby never picked their own birthday. my son I was induced at  40w 3d. my body was not ready. he ended up having his first bowel movement due to stress. we lost his heart beat during labor, I couldn't see him for 45 minutes after labor. not to mention due to distress my doctor had to cut him out of me, therefore I still have pain during sex and simple things, like wiping too hard. that was 2 years ago and I'll never forget that pain. I also feel envious of women who went into labor naturally. cause I dont know what that feels like. an extra week feels like a decade pregnant. believe me, I know. but 2 years from now, you wont remember. but in the end, it is your choice. but as much as it  doesn't seem like it, I promise the extra days will pass, you're  more likely to go on your own, having an easier labor, knowing baby was ready and I promise, the extra few days wont kill you, a thought it may feel that way. good luck sweetie!!!!

I’m waiting until at least a few days after my due date. Trying to give my body a fair shot at doing it on its own.

I would actually take a little more of a middle road. A lot of women do not give birth before their due date. Something like 30-40% give birth a after. All things equal, I’d rather go into labor naturally than be induced. That being said, 42 weeks seems too long to me. I’d be a nervous wreck about the placenta. So I’m giving it some time, but if he’s not out by 41, I’m inducing.

I really have no choice but to wait. As a vbac, I have to go into labor on my own. They can’t give me cervidil. And I can only get pitocin if I am already at 3-4 cm dilated. So I’m okay with waiting. Third time I’m not in a rush anyway with two other ones to rush after!

i see what alot of y'all are saying about waiting. My doctor believes alot more things get complicated after the babies due date. Like swallowing their first poop, or being too big or the placenta giving out. I was induced with my first son. He was ready, cause he came put very quickly.. my body just needed a push to do what it needed to do. Kudos to you patient calm ladies! You are stronger than I!

I went early naturally with my first. Currently longest I have ever been pregnant is now. I would like to think if I went early and had no problems (baby was healthy and I had a natural birth) then it can be this way past the due date as well. This is the one Last surprise I get (except death) that is a true surprise. I am attempting to embrace that. I have stopped work so I am keeping busy with meditation, walking, cleaning and seeing friends and family. I have my ups and downs but ultimately it is healthiest for baby to wait in my opinion.
