Should I give him another chance?

My ex and I broke up two months ago. He hurt me in a way that I would never imagine and he was kinda abusive. But today we went to church and talked and he says he’s changed. I think he has but I’m still having doubts. He got upset that I didn’t want to be more than friends and said God puts the people you need in your life not who you want and it got me thinking maybe I should give him another chance but I don’t know I still have my doubt about it because I’m healing from the things that have happened. Any advice ladies?
