Signs of early labor?

I was woken up last night by multiple contractions! I didn’t quite get to time them but they were definitely hours apart and probably only lasted for 45 seconds! They were more painful than my Braxton Hicks contractions that I have been having since 19 weeks! Does that mean we are getting ready?! I have a doc appointment the day after tomorrow! I’m 38+6! Maybe we can hope that baby girl makes her appearance shortly after?! I have no idea whether I’m effaced or dilated because my last appointment I was sent to the birthing center with a headache and my doctor forgot to check my cervix
