Is it okay to date a friend’s ex?

I’m currently talking to one of my best friend’s ex boyfriend and I really like him, but I feel like I’m breaking the girl code. Advice?

Talk to her. See how she feels about it. If she is not cool with it then that is up to you. Is he worth losing a friend over? I have lost friends over guys in the past. Spoiler.... He was NOT worth it .

The proper thing to do is ask the friend. I personally wouldn’t care. There’s only one ex that I wouldn’t want my friends talking to and that’s bc we were engaged and raising a baby together. He was my first love. But any of my other exes.. ew take em! Lol

My husband used to be good friends with my ex. So it was more "guy code" but asking for permission is completely dumb in my opinion. Ex's don't own each other and depending on the situation, the ex wouldn't give their "blessing" and just make it hard on a potential new relationship. 
My ex was a shit boyfriend and a shit friend. My husband felt bad about dating me, but we just kind of fell for each other. It wasn't planned and before we knew it we loved each other. So I say go for it. Because had we needed "permission" from my ex, I wouldn't be married to the love of my life.

this is funny as too it happened to my mom. my parents are divorced and have been divorced for awhile now well my dad took it upon himself to start talking to my mom's friend who was at one point close to the family and knows the family history and history between my mom and dad. Now I don't agree with this my mom was pissed Hell I would be too. so my dad got a ear full from me and me letting him know I don't respect that at all.
and for my mom's friend she must not remember how my mama is because she has another thing coming to her.
