Promising job interview? Or am I out? 😞

not sure what to think. Does this sound good or bad?

Two weeks after putting in my application to an orthopedic clinic for a medical coding position, I was offered to come in for an interview (last Friday).

I Took time off of my current job and was met with the site director and coding manager. Both seemed very pleased and happy with me. The end of the interview turned into them telling me about job hours, PTO, etc. The interview lasted almost an hour. They invited me to come back to shadow for an hour the following Friday.

Later that same day, around 7pm, I got a call from the clinic director stating that the coding manager wanted me to come in sooner to shadow, so I took time off work once again to be there Tuesday - today.

The shadowing went well. The two women I shadowed used phrases such as “this is what you’ll be doing” and “you’ll be a pro at this eventually”. Once the clinical manager walked me out she said “we have one more interview and hope to make our final decision by the end of the week, but no later than next Tuesday. You’re definitely in the running”.

I am disappointed because I was hoping for a job offer today. I also took so much time off work for this that I’m worried I wasted my time and efforts.

Should I give up hope and stop thinking about this job?
