Vacation with 1-year-old?

For moms with babies....
Is it a crazy idea to want to plan a vacation when our baby is around a year old? We would consider flying to Florida or somewhere warm and beachy. Probably not doing anything crazy for a babymoon (just a couple nights somewhere local), so we'd like to take a family vacation once baby is here. 
Would 6 months old be a better time?

My daughter had her first birthday on a Caribbean cruise! We don’t plan to stop traveling after this one is born too!

So far we've done the following trips with our son (we live in Los Angeles): San Francisco at 4mo, Banff Canada at 5mo, Denmark at 9mo, Seattle at 12mo, & Kaua'i at 13mo. He's done great with all of the trips. We're headed to Europe again next month (he'll be 14mo old). Do it!

You can travel with your child at any time. The earlier you start, the more natural it will be for you and baby. Of course it’s going to be challenging and will look differently than vacation without a baby. We took my baby to the beach at 3 months and drove the 12 hours. That was great because she literally just slept the whole time. When she was about 10 months I drove 7 hours with her alone to see my husband while he was out of town working. The driving was way harder, but again, you just do what you need to do. When she was about 16 months we went on a 3 week rv trip. You’ve just got to be go with the flow and know that you’ll have to make adjustments to care for baby - it won’t be like a pre-baby vacation.

At that point it just becomes a live your life type of thing. We have travelled when our kids were all different ages,  and each age presents challenges,  but also positive things.  Go when you want.  Baby will be with you for the next 18 years lol,  don't worry about it.

I took my son on a full on camping trip at 1. It was a 3 1/2 drive there & we slept in tents. Cooked on camp fires & all. He did great.
