Starting BC

Soooooo I finally got BC, and I’m starting on Sunday. I’m starting Lo Loestrin Fe and since I’m supposed to be getting my period soon, my Dr. told me that I should start on Sunday if I end up getting it, but if I didn’t start my period, then I could take a pregnancy test and start it that day.

However, I don’t know if it’s safe to start taking it before my period or if it will mess up my cycle either way, no matter when I take it. Also, has anyone taken it? Any side effects or bad experiences? Since this is my first time starting BC, I have no clue what to expect from this! 😬
