Zofran?

Has anyone else taken Zofran for morning sickness? Does it work and what does your doctor say about these birth defect ads? I've had a few doctors at my clinic recommended it but I'm not sure...

My family has a very personal story with zofran. My cousin was pregnant with twins, and she was VERY sick the whole pregnancy.

Both babies were affected with low birth weight & inverterted legs.

But her son had the worst of it. He has a heart condition called Vactrel, he's had open heart surgery , as well as he dosnt have any way for his feces to leave his body so he has a bag. He's 2.

People say there's not 100% on conditions, but my cousin was the healthiest , most aware pregnant woman. Zofran was all she took, besides prenatals . And look at her babies now. So sick. There's other remedies and solutions. Don't take something that even has a slight chance of hurting your baby.

My doctor gave me samples of Diclegis to take for nausea and morning sickness. I take it at night & it works wonders.

I took zofran my first pregnancy and my daughter was healthy. It saved us. I could have lost her as sick as I was if they had not put me on it. I sick this time to and saw the ads and asked my dr. She said it is being studied but they have not found definitive proof linking it to birth defects and she has never seen it with her patients. So I'm taking it. My body hates pregnancy (I was hoping this time would be different but it is not!) and I'm dying . Nothing else works and even with it I feel sick all the time but can at least hold down food most of the time.

I wouldn't risk it. There are alternatives to zofran. I took Reglan for my morning sickness and it worked great.

I'm taking Diclegis because my doctor was following reccomendations to stop prescribing zofran for morning sickness. I haven't vomited since starting Diclegis but the nausea did not go away completely. I'm still nauseous most of the time, but it's not vomit so I'll take it. I take two every night. I have not tried the morning dose.

I was on zofran when my vomiting was at its height at 8 weeks and it made me have horrible constipation. The constipation began to make me even more sick! I stopped it and switched to Diclegis. It helps a lot. Not 100% as I have hyperemesis and it's just really bad, but definitely makes a difference!

My daughter had huge kidney problems that needed surgery to correct. I took it all throughout my first trimester. Won't be taking it with this pregnancy.

I've taken zofran and declegis and neither seem to work, I'm just trying to power through. My doctor thinks the class action lawsuits regarding zofran are pointless and millions of American women take it for pregnancy. I've done a lot of research and asked my doctor and pharmacist friends. There
Was a study a few years back linking it to higher risk of birth defects and a study a couple of years later negating that evidence. I felt confident enough to take it but I only took it a couple of times at work when I couldn't function. Didn't feel like it helped mich so I stopped

Diclegis is the ONLY category A medication on the market to treat morning sickness in women. I use it now and it works well enough. I have no idea how well anything works because I didn't want to risk trying anything with Zofran.
