2 hour GD test??

I got my paperwork to do my GD test, and I was told it was a 2 hour test. I asked about the 1 hour and she said they don't do the 1 and 3 hour test anymore. They do the 2 hour test and there is no redo if you fail, and I have to fast. Anyone else doing a 2 hour?? I thought that was kinda strange.

Yep I did the 2 hour. Couldn’t eat after midnight the day before. Went in at 9am and they took my blood then I drank the “syrup” in 5 min. Then after an hour they took my blood and one hour after that they took it again! Long two hours haha

ugh I got stuck doing a 1 hour and then a 3 hour when I failed. I think it depends where you live and all that.

I got my lab slip to do one today as well. Mine is the one hour & if I fail then I need to do the two hour test. Not sure why your doctor said they don’t do it anymore.. 🤨

That’s the same process as the U.K., we have to fast for 12 hours prior and wait for 2 hours, we also have to stay in the gp surgery and can’t go home 🙄

I did the two hour. It's no big deal. The biggest problem was the uncomfortable chairs in the lab

The 2 hour is considered more sensitive and as more people are failing the 1 hour but passing the 2 hour many practices are moving to the 2 hour because overall it is less painful.

Could depend on where you live and your doctor’s preferences. We have the 2 hour test done (BC). I don’t believe the 1 and 3 hour tests are done here anymore. No chance to redo it if you fail. Doctors tell you to fast for at least 8 hours. 2 hour test isn’t a big deal, just bring something to help you pass the time.

the 2 hour is standard in Norway. there's no one or three hour test so I think if you fail the two hour you are considered diabetic
