Advice for baby on a budget?

We’ll be TTC soon and we’re not rich, but because of health issues in the past (that always leads me to ramble on in my posts) we’ve not been able to TTC... anyway, what do you do to afford a baby on a small budget? We’re 25 and 24. Here’s some of my ideas of what we can do:

*We’ll be planning on cloth diapering (have an apartment washer and landlord pays for water and we use “soap nuts” so laundry is dirt cheap and I can get a full stash for about $100)

*planning on minimal clothes, and will just do laundry more often (see previous point about small apartment washer)

*buy 2nd hand whenever possible (except for car seat and mattress)

*hopefully breastfeed

*blessed with family and friends who want to babysit, and until I get my professional full time job, my hubby and I could even survive just fine with us both working part time (ish- near full time with over 30 hours... so a 4 day workweek so we can have overlapping “weekend” with each of us with a day at home, so at least one of us would be home 4 days of the week) EDIT: this is not the plan for sure! It’s just how I’ve figured financially that we could work things out if worse came to worse! I’m highly qualified for the positions I’m applying for and don’t expect to be “unemployed”—I’m working PT at my old job—during the time we start TTC, I’ve already had promising interviews and I am not medically allowed to TTC for a little over a month (low dose chemo).

Currently my husband works full time and pays all our bills plus fun money AND some money left for savings, and I work part time and all my money goes straight into savings now. It’ll be the opposite once I get my FT job. (And currently I make like $150 to put into savings EVERY WEEK)

*Make baby food once it’s time-baby led weaning

*use local resources like the library or the kids museum

*And, of course, this would be the first grandchild... and first great-grandchild here in the Pacific NW... and we have lovely families who love gift giving
