Getting help

I told my mom that I think I should see a therapist for my depression after a talk about it at school. She wants me to see the same therapist as her and at first I was iffy and worried about the therapist telling my mom things I would say but aren’t there like strict rules about sharing info like that? Anyways, the date for when I go in and meet her hasn’t been made yet but I feel a bit better after admitting that I need the help and now the next step for me is receiving that help. Have any of you been to therapy for depression or anxiety? How did it go for you?
