Low milk supply?

How do you know you produce low milk? I’m so worried because I want to exclusivity breastfeed. It’s been 10 days since my baby born, but,when I pump I get around 20ml-30ml. Just breastfeeding him for an hour doesn’t seem to be satisfying him. Please help.

What you get from pumping is not a good indicator of what your baby gets while nursing. Babies are usually much more efficient! If your baby is having enough wet/dirty diapers, and gaining weight, your supply is good. If you’re really worried, you could do a couple of weighted feeds if you have a baby scale. Weigh your baby naked before you nurse, then again after, and you can see how many ounces they took. Good luck! I know how stressful it can be!

Low milk supply will be obvious because your baby wont wet diapers, won’t gain or will lose weight. 
Pumping output is not an accurate way to gauge supply. If the child is wetting enough diapers and gaining weight on their curve you have enough milk.

Milk doesn't come right away. Is this the thick clear stuff? That is colostrum. It's thick as corn syrup and it's okay to give him a few ccs. I did this with my daughter. I fed her with a syringe the first few days. My milk didn't come in until a week later, then I was engourged. Your body will produce what your son needs. Congratulations. And don't stress. Hydrate!
