do you think the teachers should be allowed to walkout?

my sisters school got an email saying that on a certain day, the teachers were going to walkout. the school was debating whether or not to just cancel for that day since they don’t know how many teachers should walk out. do you think they should or is it just a waste of time?

I'm in Arizona so this is a huge thing right now. The thing is, they aren't just protesting their own pay, they are protesting the lack of education funding. The schools here are using 15 year old text books, no upgraded equipment, and a lot of the supplies are coming out of teachers pockets which is not fair. So yes, they have the right to protest and they should do so.. it's not just about money it's about needing the resources to mold little minds.

If our nation funded education better, teachers wouldn't have to strike. We spend more money funding military and modern day slavery in our prison systems, than we do educating our future generations.

I understand the teacher's POV but I'm kind of hesitant to this idea because of my personal experiences. 
I studied in public schools and there was constant strikes from the teacher's part. That resulted in me having Biology classes for a total of 6 months during the 3 years of high school and barely having math throughout elementary school. It affected me a lot and I had to correct those issues it caused me after I finished high school in order to be able to compete for admission tests, which was a very hard time for me.

No, it’s the students who suffer and it’s not the students who are the reason for their walk out. They shouldn’t be able to punish an unrelated group for leverage. What if nurses walked out on their patients? Or police walked out of the prison? Teachers who do that should be replaced.

I’m a teacher and don’t agree with just walking out, especially if students are in the building.  That isn’t safe.  There are certain positions that a person shouldn’t just walk out from.  Law enforcement and medical are included in this.  I feel like protesting at the state capital would be more effective.  Also, more teachers should lobby for our profession.  Btw- I’ve said over and over that there is a lot of sexism with our salaries because the majority of educators are female. Other government professionals that are male dominated (even right out of college) get much better benefits and pay.  IRS,  fire department, postal workers, etc.  get much better benefits.  I have a few coworkers whose husbands are in these professions and they opt to use their husbands insurance instead because ours is a joke.
