Why are ppl not supporting me on my decision😕😒

Question

Ok I just got back from a interview... I gotta go and do a background check and drug test this Friday and if I pass I be working at the prison as a food service. So far no one I know is supporting me :/ I'm doing it cause no one is hiring me I wanna help around the house and go back to school. My mom is the only one supporting me she said "as long as you treat them inmates with respect then they'll respect you back just never trust them!" Cause theirs gonna be officers in the kitchen and if I see something that doesn't seem rite outside then I got a walkie talkie to call for help. I mean I'll be a lil scared on the first day but after that I should be good.

A little help or advice please

I'm a correctional officer. You have my support and respect for what it's worth. Keep a professional distance but treat them like human beings and you'll do fine.

It is the job, not for the faint of heart, not for the naive.  Your mom's advice is spot on, never trust them, they are never your friend.  But yes it is a good job, Good Luck!

Inmates are indeed people too!  I Admire, applaud, and appreciate your courage and confidence! It's your life!  It doesn't Matter if anyone supports you just that you believe in yourself and you're happy !:D

Honestly I love working in the prison, all kinds of people. However I speak to them...as a food service worker I would smile and keep a distance. Good luck

I've had three very close relatives work in prisons. An aunt, uncle, even my grandma was a prison nurse. I support you, and congratulations on your new job! I hope it helps you out a lot!

I know tons of people that work in the prison in my town,  men and women alike,  as long as you're not a total ass face to them then you will probably be fine.
