Life after Depo

Hey guys. So I recently started becoming sexually active in 2016. The first birth control I ever got on was the depo and I gained a little bit of weight being on it, but I’ve been off since July due to my parents moving to Japan and for awhile the insurance I had from my dad wasn’t covered in the area I live. I now have a new medical insurance from my job and have been thinking about the pill but not too sure. The reason why is cause once I got off depo, my weight gain sky rocketed. Has anyone else who was on the depo have had this problem? And what birth controls do you recommend I should get on now? Thanks in advance!
