Do you think you can grow out of a friendship?

Have you ever felt that a friend of yours and your life just didn't fit or mix well together anymore ? Did you end friendship?

I have almost every single one of mine. Except my husband and family.

Yes of course. People change and grow apart. It’s sad, but natural.

Yup. As I’ve gotten older, my tolerance for wasted friendships has gone down. I recently cut off a friend that was one of my best friends for a couple of years. She wasn’t benefiting my life. That sounds cold, but when a friendship becomes only about someone else and they don’t actively have any interest in yours, then things aren’t benefitting you anymore. Time to shut that door. I feel happier and healthier without the stress of that in my life.

I'm more of the once a friend always a friend variety. I have grown out of being close friends, the sort of friends you see and talk to every day, with many, many friends over the years. I havent seem the person I consider my best friend in two years. But I'm still here if she needs me. I know she's still there for me because I texted after months of not talking the other day when I really needed a friend and she had my back 100%. 
I dont really believe in giving up on people unless they're toxic. Life gets busy and I think its perfectly natural to drift apart and lose touch but I feel like the friends i've collected over the years are more like family and our bonds are unbreakable, even if we dont see each other regularly or our lives have went in different directions

yes, as I've gotten older I've gone separate ways with a few friends because of different reasons, but boils down to growing apart and living different lives. Some I don't talk to at all anymore, others we talk every now and then and "stay in touch" on social media, but it's never the same as when we were young, wild and care free.

You absolutely can, I can and have with a few friends of mine, some best friends and some close friends. For two of my best friends, events caused us to drift apart, but for some close friends it just happened over time as lifestyle and priorities changed. It’s part of life to be honest 🤷🏾‍♀️

The saying is true. Once you have a kid, your friends disappear. Honestly, I don’t talk to any of my old friends or even people I went to either of my high schools. If they don’t care to have fun with my kid & I then what’s the point of even being friends? Lol.

Yup yup yup. Some stay immature, never put in effort to make something of themselves so I left that behind.

Yes. I've outgrown a lot of friends. Especially with me moving so much, I've gotten to see who my real friends are.

I knew this “friend” since high school, met my husband through her; her husband, her and my husband have all known each other since middle school. We have a lot of mutual friends that some of those friends I met through my husband. I’ve known her for about 20 years but we weren’t close in high school— but were on friendly terms; it wasn’t until college and out of college that we became closer.
I cut her out of my life for good earlier this year. Why? Because she’s a narcissist who will never take responsibility for her own actions or own up to them. Her husband is an asshole who only feeds into her narcissism. She’s also mean, extremely judgmental, two faced... you name it. She likes to “stir the pot”... 
For example... my friend (whom I’ve also known since high school) and his wife divorced earlier this year. Her and I were friends with his ex wife (I’m not longer friends with ex wife— not because of the divorce but the fact that she dragged his name through the dirt and played victim— but largely she’s a different person now ever since she started to hang with narcissist EX friend). The whole time this was happening, narcissist and husband got themselves involved in it when clearly it wasn’t any of their business. They called my friend a rapist, made social media posts about him (slandering him basically), threatening him, etc.
I had post partum depression and reached out to them... I basically stated my reasons why I won’t be on social media and said that I felt like they constantly made shit about themselves. So instead of asking me how I am, etc she of course makes it about herself and says she’s also going to stay off of social media blah blah blah.
The last straw for me into ending this friendship was when her husband made a FB post about I and 2 other friends... and said all this about us. He brought my child into it (it wasn’t necessarily bad but he said I needed to dress her better; either way don’t ever bring anyone’s child into it). She had the nerve to message my husband and say that she asked her husband to take that post down and that I’ll always be a “dear friend to her”... okay but I saw that you commented on his post so she’s obviously lying. 
The last thing I texted to her said that she better keep my child’s name out of her mouth.
We’re both 35 years old... I refuse to be friends who are messy like that but also who refuse to own up to their own behavior.
