Prenatal and iron together??

Question

I’m anemic so on iron tablets and my friend bought me some prenatals that have iron in them and also b12 which isn’t beneficial to me I have a b12 defiance so would I be doubling up on iron if I took the prenatal and the iron tablets??

No it’s fine ,i was prescribed iron supplements and took them along side prenatal for mild anemia

I developed anemia once I got pregnant so I had to take both. You will not get iron poisoning unless you are a child of 12yo. You will just get constipated and in some cases (1st trimester) iron causes nausea. That’s what my doctor’s nurse told me. Talk your doctor anyways.

Talk to your doctor before doubling up on pills. It is possible to overdo your iron intake, which can actually cause iron poisoning.

i took both, because I am also anemic. I actually had to take my prenatals and 2 iron pills. But if you are worried ask your OB
