Genetic testing?

Just curious to see who had genetic testing done. Pros/cons? Why did you choose to go ahead with the testing...and vice versa?

I had it done to just to know and I'm glad I did it. I believe it's good to know and be prepared then to go in without any knowledge. The rest came out negative and even if it came back with something I would still love my baby girl with all my heart. It's not bad to do it but if you do just don't stress yourself out. God is with you and will protect your baby. Remember that no matter what things will be ok

I had the Nuchal screen and a fetal DNA test. I'm glad I have the results and I don't need to worry. Having more knowledge puts me at ease. Sometimes people make the assumption that if someone gets the testing they are automatically going to abort if something is wrong. Not true. Being prepared is the way to go in my opinion.

I didn't get it done with my first and I'm not with this one. If there is something wrong what can you do but worry and that's not good for u or baby

I got it ONLY so that I would be prepared. There was no question about a termination at all. I just wanted the knowledge so that I could properly be prepared when my little one came.

We did it. My SO has sickle cell on both his moms and dads sides of the family and with a recent loss due to it I wanted to know our chances. Plus if the probability was high, we would have done the private cord blood banking. It's our first, and whatever the rest came back as, we would just want to be prepared for it.

I got the genetic testing and everything came back good. I wanted to make sure that if there was a risk my baby being born with something that I could take all the nessesary classes and procedures to educate myself for him.

We decided not to do it. We would keep and love our baby no matter what and after all we went through to get pregnant, we wanted to enjoy the pregnancy instead of having to deal with potentially bad news about the pregnancy.

Just took the test at 11 weeks..I'm a total worrier, older 1st time mom & adopted so unsure of genetic issues.
Downs is my biggest worry but odds are still pretty low so praying all ok.

Everything has been normal and measuring good according to ultrasounds. I am due in October, and I don't plan on having any testing done. If some other test or something on the ultrasound came back abnormal I'd have it done, but I don't see a reason to. I'm going to love her no matter what.
