I live in Arizona and I am a sophmore in Highschool. School was closed today because my teachers went down to the capitol to protest for the state to provide more money for the classrooms, and for textbooks and the proper things kids need to learn. Also the pay for teacher to increase. How do you feel about this?. Do you think this will make history?

Yes. I do not know why the importance of education is not more upheld in America. In the majority of other countries, Germany from personal experience, teaching is a very respected profession and paid quite well. It baffles me some teachers make only about $350 a week. It baffles me most of them have to have second jobs to survive. It baffles me they’re basically treated as glorified babysitters. It baffles me half of the country now wants them to be armed and kill their students. So, in summary, I support the teacher walkouts wholeheartedly.

I think the opportunity to do this is their right. We need to invest more into our schools. We need to invest more into our children which are ultimately our future. And we have to show teachers we value their jobs. I don’t know if they will make history, but I hope they get some of what they want.

I agree with the teachers. we spend more money on war and prisons than we should on our classrooms.

A lot of teachers get paid less than a dog walker. Actually. Every year there is less and less funding for schools especially for special education. Also, being a teacher is now a pretty dangerous job. It’s becoming less and less desirable to be a teacher and the people we want to teach our kids won’t bcs they risk their futures both financially and physically. Will it make history I don’t know. But I think they need to be heard. As a society we should want to educate our children, provide extra help to the children of disabilities and keep schools safe. If it means they have to walk out to be heard. So be it.

My school district has been cancelled indefinitely because of it. I support it completely. Teachers and schools in general deserve so much more. My school isn’t the best. The paint on the tables has chipped off to reveal sharp edges, the walls are covered in graffiti, and most bathroom stalls are absolutely sickening. We are on constant emergency sub coverage and my teachers are gone on the regular. Despite all the obstacles the lack of pay provides, they still all managed to be absolutely incredible teachers. They’ve morphed the future generation and are so supportive. They deserve so much better.

I think you just need to venture into some other rooms of Glow to see that more money needs to be spent on education. It’s their right to strike so I support anyone who wants to exercise their right.
