What does this gear next to the date mean on Facebook?

It's not just on a few of the pages I like but I've seen it on a friend's post. Just curious what it means? Did they limit who can see it?       **Not pregnancy related, no place to really post it so I'll ask you wonderful ladies since I recently had a baby lol **

It means they customized who can see the post or not.

Basically you can hide a post you make from certain chosen people and that little symbol just shows if its customized, (the gear) public, (a little earth symbol) or just their friends (little people symbol)

they're limiting the visibility of the post to a custom group that doesn't include all their friends.

I think you can change settings on whether to follow their posts or not by clicking on it.
