How do I convince my parents to let me get a cat?

I really want a cat very badly and my parents have some concerns. I am actually quite responsible and I am 16
They are worried about 
-smell of the litter box 
-washing the cat 
-the cat having accidents outside the litter box 
And we already have a dog

Cat owner here- right now I have 3, 2/3 of them being kittens. My older cat was brought home by my mom and she didn’t want to keep her but I begged her. I changed the litter box every week and made sure she was fed/watered every day and played with. Cats in my opinion are a lot easier than dogs, especially if the cat is very independent. Maybe do all of your chores or help around the house to show that you are responsible. You could also save up to get a cat- that would show responsibility as well. Honestly, as long as you change the litter box once a week (you’re supposed to scoop poop every day but I never did if I’m being completely honest) and feed and water them, they’ll be fine. Depending on the cats personality, you’ll need to play with them or get them toys to play by themselves. As far as pooping outside of the litter box, in my experience it doesn’t happen unless the cat is sick or injured. Our 3rd cat we just got 2-3 weeks ago and on the first day home we just put him in the litter box and know he uses it. Cats are very smart and clean animals so that’s not typically an issue
