What do you think of Dr. Phil?

Got this poll from twitter. I saw on twitter where a video was posted of Dr. Phil talking to a young girl that had a mental illness of some sort, and he was belittling her, responding to her opinions by saying “this is my show, if you don’t like it you can leave” “no one tells me what to do on my show” granted this is all probably scripted but it still bothered me. He just seemed so arrogant and disrespectful. 
From what you have seen of him, what do you think of him?

I’m not a fan of his. I’m a psych student and feel any reputable psychologist would not exploit people like he does. I mean he’s technically not a psychologist anymore because he let his license lapse and stopped doing CE classes, but still.

Little known fact about doctor Phil, he used to have a practice in my home town but ended up having to leave and work in another city because he got caught having an affair with one of his patients

I think he’s great. A lot of people on his show need to be told what’s up. And they choose to put themselves on tv. You can’t focus on the times he’s hard on people. His show actually helps a lot of people by providing treatment they couldn’t otherwise afford or be willing to do.

I enjoy the show, but I don’t agree with how he approaches a lot of things. 
He’s overly judgmental, particularly about sex work and cannabis use, I don’t like his just pull yourself up by your bootstraps style, and sometimes his advice is just plain bad. 
If that clip was about yesterday’s show though, no mental illness was ever mentioned, and I don’t agree with internet diagnosing.

I think he’s annoying and too judge-mental. Also I feel that most of the time he’s not correct. 
That being said, I am addicted to his show. 😫

I'm not really a fan of most doctors on TV, I'm just very suspicious of them.

Dr. Phil is to psychology what Dr. Oz is to medicine. Both are whack jobs who care only about making money. Dr. Phil will exploit whoever he can to make a buck, and Dr. Oz will feature any crap product that will give him a cut of the profits. They are both embarrassing and shouldn't be taken seriously.

He’s not a psychologist, so I don’t know why he has a platform as one.
