Heavy painful periods

In January I missed my period, my brother died and I thought I was just late because of stress... The day before his funeral I misscarried, at least that's what it looked like.. It looked like a piece of raw chicken with veins in it and everything... My SO and I cried and were so sad. Then in February I had a normal period. I've always had really bad cramps where I just have to lay in bed the first few days.. My periods have always been heavy and last 6-7 days. In March though I had the most painful period I've ever had. The most pain I've ever been in. It felt like labor! I was sweating and my hips and thighs were throbbing in pain. It hurt to sit so bad and I thought I was going to pass out. All I could do was cry for like two days! I have a pretty high pain tolerance so my SO knew it was serious. My question is what does this mean??? My periods are back to normal and my cramps aren't even that bad lately.. Was it just the period from hell?
