NICU twins...?

This is my first twin experience and I am hearing they like to come early. How early did your twins come? Did they have to be in the NICU?

I had early labor and my boys were born 25/3. They are still in the NICU. It's been a month and I just got to hold my other twin. He's had a bad battle with his lungs.

I anticipated an early delivery my whole pregnancy based on what I read and heard. My dr even tried to get me to take the steroid shot a few weeks ago to help their lungs develop prematurely in case they were born early. I am now 38+3 and waiting for these babies to make an appearance and still no signs they want to come out!!

My twins were born 23 weeks & 3 days they are currently 3 months and will be 4 months on the 17th. We are still in Nicu

I was induced with my twin boys at 36 weeks. They came out weighing 5lbs 14oz and 6lbs 5oz. They never once had to go to the nicu and we went home together two days later  :)

My first pregnancy was a twin, we lost one late in the pregnancy and my son was born emergency c-section at 33 weeks, he was 4lb1oz and spent 16 days in the nicu. He did really well, cpap for one day and then he was just a "grower and feeder" till they felt he could maintain on his own.

Labor started at 33 +4, delivered 33+6. Got two steroid shots, one of them got to work only 6 hours. NICU for a week, and admittet with jaundice for another week for twin B. They were ca 2 kg (4,4 lbs) each, and had no trouble breathing. They had a feeding tube the first days, but are fully breastfeed now 😊

Do you know if you are having di-di or mono-di (or mo-mo) yet? That kind of makes a difference. Depending on if they share a placenta will determine when they are born which I'm sure affects the chance of being in the NICU. I'm having mono-di, meaning they share the placenta, and I'll be induced during week 36. But obviously that doesn't mean they will be in the NICU. I am just going to expect it though so my heart is as prepared as it can be (my firstborn was full term and in there for 3 days and I never expected it so it was extremely hard on me). But when you have di-di twins (usually fraternal) is when you hear of people going 40 weeks with twins and having bigger babies. Obviously those twins could also be in the NICU, I just know from what the doctor told me that the risks and complications that are likely go in order from di-di to mono-di to mono-mono.

I had my twins at 37 + 4 one needed nicu time due to low birth rate she was there for 3 days. My son roomed in with us he was 5.12 oz. I was able to get an extra day at the hospital so we were all able to go home together rather then leaving her over night  since I am nursing.

My water broke at 34 weeks 5 days, and I delivered(supposed to be) fraternal twin boys. 5.9 oz 5.3oz 18.9 inches long. They spent 3 weeks 1 day in the NICU due to breathing issues.

I knew a lady that had twins at 40wks each weighing 7lbs+. My husband is a twin & was born 3mos early weighing less than 3lbs. Anything is possible, just take good care of yourself & rest when you need to.
