Newborn first bath, soap and lotion??

My baby is 1 week 1 day old and her stump fell off yesterday so we wanted to give her a bath but I’m nervous to put anything on her skin just yet. Any moms give there babies baths this early? Did you use lotion after or just a quick rinse and call it good?

I used soap and lotion but chose gentle natural ones- California baby and babyganics are my favorites!

My daughter's first bath was in the hospital. Since then she's had a bath pretty much every other night for the last almost 12 months. We've always used shampoo, body wash and lotion on her even as a newborn.

I didn’t submerge my daughter until about a week or so after the umbilical chord fell off to really let it heal and dry off. I used a gentle soap right away  but no lotion until she was about a month old. Her feet got very dry so I did use some Vaseline on them.

I gave him a bath the day after my lo stump fell of. I was using baby dove sensitive but it makes me nauseas and now we use Johnson and Johnson shea and cocoa butter soap and lotion. It smells sooooo good and it moisturizes his skin so well. And I usually give him a bath ever 2-3 days unless we have an accident🙂

We were told to wait 2-3 days after the cord fell off. So his fell off at 6 days, we bathed at 9.
But we used shampoo, body wash, and lotion from the first bath.

I know lots of moms who didnt give their babies a bath for at least a month. just wipe down with a wet washcloth when dirty
