Long, very heavy periods after baby?

My baby is almost one and I got my first period 9 months postpartum. My first period was light and 5 days in total. Second one was moderate and 6 days in total. I am currently on my third period which has been insanely heavy (having to wear tampons and pads and change them every couple of hours). It’s also day 8 of my period with no end in sight! 😭 Going to call my doctor on Monday if it hasn’t stopped. Anyone else experience this? Will it regulate and go back to normal or will I be cursed with long heavy periods from now on?! 😩
