Baby shower timing??

Question

Baby shower too early? I'm due Jan 1st. I was hoping to have the shower the last week of October or first week of November. My thinking was that people are busy mid to late November and all of December with their families for the holidays. Also, people are saving for Christmas gifts during that time. Unfortunately my mother will be out of town the last week of October and first week of November. My options are now October 24/25th or November 14/15th. I'm leaning toward October. I'd be 30 weeks. Is this too early??

Personally I think 27-35 weeks is the ideal time. You're in the 3rd trimester and still a few weeks from the end. With my first I had mine at 32 weeks because those dates worked best. :)

My showers are at 25, 26 weeks and a little later. I want everything in order before 36 weeks. My sister delivered 4 weeks early and I'll just stress if everything isn't in its place!

With us being 3,000 miles away from our family due to military, I am flying home for my cousins wedding Aug 22nd and I'll be having my baby shower the week prior. I'll only be 24 weeks. Than my friends here will be throwing me a shower as well but it will be closer to end of sept/ beginning of Oct since I'm due Nov 28th. But honestly it doesn't matter. I'd talk with your mom and MIL and see what date they like better. You want to have fun at your baby shower so if you're too big it will be uncomfortable:)

I'm due in December and we plan on doing our shower the second or third week of August. I'm a planner, so I like to make sure I have everything ready. So whatever we don't receive off our registry, we'll have the next 3 1/2-4months to get everything else we need. I plan on having mine in early October.  And I'm due January 4th.  Specifically because the holidays . Plus what if I go in to labor early or there's complications . And I live in Indiana where if it decides to snow well be screwed and everyone will be snowed in for a week. I dont want to wait until december to have one. I also know someone who isn't due until November and found out what's she's having thru blood test and is having a baby shower in June.  So I don't personally think you can be too early.

30 weeks is good! I had my first one at 28 weeks and even though it didn't turn out as planned and almost no one could make it it worked out. This time my BFF is insisting on a do-over and I'll be 30-31 weeks. It gives to you time to know what people are going to give as gifts so you can have time to buy everything else you still need

I'm due first week of January too and my mom and MIL are planning mine for the first week of November also. You can go early so you want to be sure you're got all you need.

I'm 30 weeks in two days and my baby shower isn't for another 4 weeks and I am panicking! I feel like I'm not prepared at all and she could make her debut at any time. I would for sure have yours at 30 weeks, that way you won't be in the position I'm in now. We finished painting the nursery already, but we just need everything to fill it and that won't happen till the shower. Ugh, wish I was having mine earlier! Hope this helps!

I agree I did also consider getting multiples of things and not getting other things. I'm a teacher and plan to work until the baby comes. I think if I waited until close to the due date I wouldn't have the energy to setup the nursery and go return things and get what we still need. It will be nice to have some things done and out of the way to relax a bit.
