Ftm with 3 week old baby. Of course I'm only getting maybe 2 hours of sleep every other day. No one to take care of the baby so all of it falls on me. I haven't showered since yesterday. I haven't washed my clothes since I've been home from the hospital. My mom looks at me & asks "when are you going to get back to your old self?" 😕😕😒😒 REALLY?! I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THEY DIDN'T JUST INVENT NEWBORNS & SLEEP DEPRIVATION YESTERDAY! I don't have anyone to talk to about even though I'm one of the last kids in my family to have a child.... Smdh I can't deal & I can't wait for this to be over!

I'm black, African actually and when we give birth our mum stays with us for sometime to help take care of us and the baby I mean literally, I don't get why your mums can't do that (we all are different though, and I'm not saying it in a bad way) its just that they know how draining having a lil one can be, new mothers need all the help they can get. Hang on momma it'll get better

ugh yep when my daughter was a newborn my mom goes "don't you think you should water your plants outside?"...ummm sure, I also think I need to do the laundry, eat something besides freezer meals, clean my house, take a shower, and I also think you live next door you unsympathetic woman. she could have easily done SOMETHING to help me and she did nothing but tell me how horrible I was doing at juggling motherhood and life. so I feel ya, just keep doing what your doing it'll get easier. ignore everyone else. let the laundry pile up, let urself stink a bit, cherish the moments with your newborn instead..its the shortest phase of life and you will be happy you soaked it all in instead of doing laundry.

The 2 hrs of sleep comment was just a joke. My baby sleep during the day & up at night. I know that she has her days & nights mixed up. She sleep 90 mins up to 2 hrs per nap during the day. The post was about how I felt about trying to adjust to this new part of my life & how no one who's had children seems to understand or emphasize with me but hey🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ it is what it is...

I think that our moms forgot how hard it was. mine seems to want to tell me how to do everything in ways that seem impossibile because "that's how she did it" . I am a FTM with a 9 week old and my mom thinks I should have dinner on the table when my husband gets home with clean clothes on and the house cleaned. are you kidding me ?!?! she said she managed to do ALL that with 4 kids and no help...... YEAH RIGHT !!!! just take it with a grain of salt and tell Mom you'll get back to yourself when you get back to yourself. nothing you can do to speed it up or anything. I sometimes don't even change clothes for 2 days and my husband is home every night to help me. don't you worry, you are not alone.

I got that the 2 hours thing was an amusing exaggeration. Thought it was pretty clear. 
And I totally feel you. My first was very high needs. Showers happened maybe weekly and sleep was pretty much nonexistent. 
My subsequent babies were all better sleepers and not high needs, but then there were siblings to care for too. It’s a challenge. I do promise it ends. Eventually. :)

I have a three week old also and don’t feel back to my old self yet, and this is my second baby. But it sounds like baby isn’t sleeping enough because something is wrong. But I get not getting enough sleep momma, my husband is home with us on paternity leave. And I still feel like I do t get time to take a shower or eat, I’m exclusively breastfeeding too so it’s not like he can help in that department.
