She is here!
I went in for an induction at (39+6) 7:30 am on May 1st. Started pitocin at 9-9:30, I was 2.5 cm dilated prior to induction. The dilation after pitocin was slow, I was at a 3 by 12:45. And the nurses and my OB were trying to figure out when to break my water, to keep the process moving. They wanted to try and wait until I got to a 4. Finally got to a 4 at about 2PM and my OB broke my water (strange feeling, although not painful). After the breaking of water, elected to get an epidural. It took 45 minutes for the anesthesiologist to get to my room, and contractions started coming, somewhat consistently at that time, but for the most part manageable. Finally got the epidural, took about 15-20 minutes to place, but started to ease my pain (for about 60 mins).
I tried to sleep some, but there was so much going on in my room it was difficult. I had a little button to push to increase the epidural, (I tried not to use it, since I did not want to slow down the labor process), but I was starting to get uncomfortable, so I pushed the button two additional times, and then it locked out after two clicks. I was not getting much relief at that point. Another anesthesiologist came in and gave me another dose. Again the relief was short lived. I continued to push the little button, until I was quite numb, in certain areas, although could still feel some contractions. After the second dose, I went from a 4.5 to a 6, the time was about 4:30pm-5:00pm. My pain continued to climb and some of the numbness wore off, I got one more final does of the epidural (@6.5-7cm at about 8-8:30pm),and after that things moved "quickly". I went from a full 7cm to 9.5cm in less then an hour. At that point my contractions were extremely strong and according to my OB abnormally long., I was in a lot of pain at this point in time .I started pushing at around 9:30 and my beautiful baby girl was born at 10:38PM on May 1st, 2018.
I had a bit of hemorrhaging, but my OB worked diligently to get me taken care of. And I'm happy to report both baby and I are healthy! I am pleased to welcome Sahari Rayne to the world ❤️
