How Did Having a Baby Impact Your Relationship with Your Spouse/S.O./Baby Daddy/Etc?

This is our first baby and I’m expecting her arrival will change some things about our marriage, if not EVERYTHING about our relationship altogether! I’m hoping parenthood will affect us positively and help us grow even stronger and more connected, but I have also heard horror stories! How did having a baby impact your relationship? Positively? Negatively? A bit of both (variably)? Or did it not have as big an impact as you’d expected (minimally)? Share your experiences and any advice you might have for how to ensure your relationship remains strong with a new baby on board!

He said we would have to break up if I didnt get an abortion ... so I’m now single and expecting my son in September and never being happier 😬💙

A baby makes a good relationship better and a bad relationship worse. That's what I've always heard and I totally agree. I don't believe it caused a strain on my relationship or had a single negative effect. It made me love, respect, and appreciate my husband more and I'm pretty sure he would say the same thing.

It’s a strain. Babies cause allot of stress because there is some  fear there and sleeping becomes a thing of the past, which makes everyone cranky and feeling tired makes people moody,  so allot of times people argue over sharing responsibility. Communicate your expectations of one another and don’t just assume he or she will just do this or that. Will you Share feedings, household chores, stay at home, give each other a break ? You do have to work as a team and having a plan In place is a good start. It passes after you get a good routine going but it’s definitely difficult in the beginning on even the strongest of relationships. Having a child will never fix a bad relationship and as far as it bringing you closer is just depends on the level of commitment you have to each other.

I didn’t think it was possible but having mine and hubbies first baby ( both have children from previous) almost  9 month ago and spending every min of every day has brought us so close never a cross word were expecting our 2nd daughter in 4 month
