Once you get a BFP, can you pass on sonograms?

I'm doing IVF and am hoping not to have to do ultrasounds if/when I get a BFP (until about 22 weeks that is). Has anyone declined ultrasounds once you were pregnant? Or have information/research on why I should absolutely get ultrasounds?

Having gone thru IVF myself. They will need to do US after a positive HCG Test. When your are IVF you are considered High Risk Pregnancy from the beginning. They need to see how many embryos implanted, they need to see that Embryos are actually growing by dating them, they need to see that none implanted in your Fallopian tubes causing Eptopic and also to check your ovaries with all the medication you took make sure you are not OHSS which if you are aware is very dangerous! I guess u can decline US but you have to check with Clinic what the your right is on that decision, for Liability reasons they may not let you as part of the agreement you made prior to starting IVF treatment and Care.
Besides you’ve been thru a lot trying to conceive, don’t you want to enjoy every

Ultrasounds with the exception of one or two types which are NOT done in OB are very safe. I’m not understanding why you would be ok with the drugs and procedures that IVF requires but not with an ultrasound? Early sonos are important for many reasons and honestly, refusing such an important part of the IVF process will probably get you dropped from the practice for noncompliance.

We found out at our anatomy scan at 18 weeks that my daughter had a congenital heart defect. without that ultrasound they would not have been prepared for her at her birth and there is a good possibility she would have died. we are so thankful that we got the diagnosis early. it also helped us mentally prepare. additionally, thankfully our daughters condition was severe but managable but throughout our time in the hospital we have been witness to many conditions that were so much worse and have known quite a few babies who have passed after living a very difficult tortured life never leaving the hospital. some conditions like these I would not put my child through because I don't feel it is fair to them. having our scan at 18 weeks gave us time to get multiple options, come to terms, and if absolutely necessary (because we desperately wanted our baby) terminate for medical reasons. thankfully we never had to make that awful heartbreaking decision. as we ttc #2 we will be getting additional scans earlier. also, because she was high risk she had bi weekly ultrasounds and fetal echos (an ultrasound of the heart) and has no complications from that. the ultrasounds are just sound waves they may annoy but don't harm your baby. I would highly recommend getting them especially the anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks. good luck!

When you go through Ivf (I have too) , there is a process and the ultrasound after a positive test is for a reason:
1. Confirm pregnancy is in-fact not ectopic and is growing in the right place (uterus ). This is because it is still possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with IVF which can be life threatening if not caught in time .
2. Make sure embroyo(s) did not split or see how many implanted. If you are pregnant with multiples you’re considered s higher risk pregnancy and will require more monitoring.
3. Confirm heart beat and growth of embryo to make sure everything is developing correctly.
4. Check to see if you have any Cysts after the Ivf on your ovaries which will need monitored if so .
All that being said, you should atleast have one ultrasound after positive pregnancy with your RE before moving to your OB for the above reasons. If your OB decides not to do another one until late second trimester that’s up to them but in my opinion you will atleast need one before then with RE. 
Out of curiosity , is there a reason you don’t want an ultrasound until then? You can always discuss that with your doctor to get additional feedback.

I would discuss this with your doctor/ midwife.  Between the first ultrasound to check for heartbeat (generally around 8 weeks) and the anatomy scan (between 18-20 weeks) I don't recall needing any. Your doctor will advise you on what is medically necessary and if there are any that you can skip. 
I'm understanding from your pow that you plan to do the anatomy scan which is great. We found out at our 20 week scan that my amniotic fluid was very low and I had to be monitored weekly to keep our baby safe.

Ultrasounds aren’t just fun things for moms and dads to be. All of the specific ultrasounds routinely offered by hour OB have specific purposes. They check on baby’s development and health. It’s very unlikely they’d let you decline. It’s not about you it’s about the baby. If for whatever reason you feel very strongly about this, I’m sure you could discuss with them and possibly compromise? They can likely turn the parent viewing monitor off so you don’t see any of the ultrasound, they’ll take the info they need, leave you in the dark, and verbally update you on whether there are concerns or not.

Ultrasounds give pretty good info for doctors about your baby, uterus, placenta, etc.   not to mention seeing the little bean for yourself.
