Sex & pregnancy

My boyfriend wants to avoid having sex until we are financially free (which will be anywhere from a few months to a year) so that there is no possible chance of me getting pregnant. We've already been intimate for about two years, so you may see why this would be difficult. I completely get where he is coming from, but I'm not sure if that's what I want...He's a lot more worried that a pregnancy could happen than I am, so I'm trying to consider his feelings. We use condoms, but am not on any other kind of BC (not a fan). I just need a little advice. Also, he's 20 and I'm 22
