How and why is this happening?

So long story short I decided to make an account on MeetMe to meet some more people and to put myself out there since I’ve been going through a hard time. I made the account yesterday and after I sent a text to a friend of mine I got a message from a random number I assumed was him because he was messing with me the other day using one of those texting apps. The person sent me pictures claiming they were a female (I’m straight and never talked to any girls on there) and said they’d pay me to have sex with their boyfriend. Soon after I got another message from someone claiming to be a guy who sent me a face picture and a fake dick pic that I’ve been sent before. I also received texts from someone else but this came from someone with an iPhone saying I talked to them before. This is getting really weird as I got made this account and didn’t give anyone my contact information at all. I figure this is someone who knows me but I don’t know is it possible that I was hacked? If not what could be happening?
