Luck of the Irish

This month marks 3 years my husband and I have been trying to conceive. I have never been pregnant, not even a chemical. In that span of time, we have watched my sister give birth twice, 3 dear friends get pregnant, several colleagues, and seven cousins on my side. Not to mention probably the many others we were at one time friends with on fb. Both of us have deleted fb. Endless photo posts of new babies became too difficult to bear. And all the hate, especially political nonsense during the last two years, seemed pointless to subject ourselves to.

So, as a much needed distraction, and to mark our 10 year wedding anniversary this year, we have decided to go to Ireland and London. We just booked our flights today, and I am so excited! We have tried so many things to get pregnant, and had so many tests done. Just to be told we suffer from “unexplained fertility”. We have cried together, hoped together, prayed together, and held each other tight in shared sorrow. We are pausing and prayerfully considering what are next step will be on this journey. Maybe, just maybe, we need the luck of the Irish.
