How long is stay at hospital after C-section ?

With my daughter my obgyn let me stay longer than I had to since my daughter was in the nicu. I’m hoping this time I get out fast to get home to my babygirl 😭😭💝 and my newest addition of course. I know it might depend on me but I’m curious.

Usually 48 hours for vaginal and 72 hours for c section. At least that’s he standard in my area (Michigan)

My hospital is 48 hours vaginally and 72 hours c-section. But my baby was born at 10:44pm and had some newborn jaundice and had a dimple in her back they wanted to check on so I didn’t leave until 72 hours was up. I delivered vaginally

I stayed 4 days due to some complications but I needed that forth day!  The day we came home was brutal so much pain.

So, I had a c section on a Tuesday morning and was discharged Friday, I did spend 24 hours on Magnesium, so I think that added a day...but I could have stayed 1 more. My hubby was sick of being at the hospital and I wanted to get home to my 3 year old. The reason for my post is to tell you to stay the extra day...I was happy to get home, but with being sore it was hard to get in and out of my bed, hard to maneuver to get the baby and go feed her all night long...in the hospital we could send her to the nursery and they could deal with the grunting baby for a few hours in between feeds. At home it’s you and if your hubby is like mine he was excited to get more sleep, so I didn’t get as much help from him at home...he also took a 3 hour nap the day after we got home...he helped better after that, but having 2 kids is rough, just think about staying the full time and soak in the fact that your food gets delivered, even if it isn’t good...

They want to to stay 3 days but I requested an early discharge at 2 days, just tell them early if that's what you want so your ob and pediatrician can permit it.
