Long period!?!?!

Question

So I’m not really sure how long a period is supposed to start because I just had my first period back in November or 2017. I’m almost 13 and my period usually lasts about 7 days 
(7 days that I need to wear a pad even if theres just a little blood) 
I dont really know what’s normal so please help!

Your period should start to regulate out after a year. Cycles vary depending on the person, but an average is about 28 days. The beginning of your cycle is the first day of your period. You should bleed for about 5-7 days and ovulate around your 14th day. I know when I first started, mine were pretty irregular and sporadic. But after about a year, it got into a normal cycle. If you track your cycle right, you can also start to feel the changes in your body during your cycles. For example, I know that I ovulate on the 14-16th day of my cycle because the mucus is different, and I have a deep lower back ache that I only have then. Keep in mind that every ones cycle is a little bit different, but being aware and informed will help you out in the long run!
