Do u feel same sending your child to school in America?

I was planning on moving to America for work but since I’ve got pregnant I can’t even imagine doing that I’d be their for 10 years at least and my son would go to school it just seems so dangerous with all the shootings I’m going to stay in then uk mainly because of the gun violence in school over their how is it safe!!

I will tell you there are hundreds of thousands of schools so while the school shootings are so terrible and devastating it’s not like everyone knows someone that was involved in a school shooting.

I feel my kids are safe. Like the other poster said, it’s in the news a lot, but 99.99% of the schools here haven’t had an incident.

The media makes it seem like it happens a lot but it's extremely rare. In other countries they don't have guns but kids can carry knives or make bombs, but you still send your kids to school.  I've never felt unsafe sending my kids to school. A bigger concern is there's like zero government assistance or maternity leave, health insurance is a mess so it's hard to live here unless you're well off financially.

I will be homeschooling my children. I would no matter what country I live in. I just don't trust anyone to keep my kids safe but me.

My school never had a shooting, none of them did. I’ve been to several schools in my life as my parents were nomadic and not one of them has historically, or since I left, had a shooting. The media is just sensationalizing this sort of thing for fear mongering purposes in the gun control movement. Violence happens in a lot of places, in a lot of different ways. But you should always be aware of the general safety and atmosphere of where you live. My son goes to a great school, but it’s across town because our particular neighborhood is not one I would consider really safe.
