Thoughts on Jury Nullification?

Question

If you’re not familiar, here’s a brief description from google!
“Jury nullification occurs when a jury returns a verdict of "Not Guilty" despite its belief that the defendant is guilty of the violation charged. The jury in effect nullifies a law that it believes is either immoral or wrongly applied to the defendant whose fate they are charged with deciding.”
I want to hear your thoughts, and if you’d ever consider utilizing this.

I think it’s stupid that most states don’t require the judge to inform the jury of this option.

Laws are very black and white whereas real life hardly ever is. There was a story in the news not long ago of a father who killed the man who molested is daughter for years. He didn’t want her to have to face him in court. I could never convict a father in that situation and I don’t think most people would. I think jury nullification is kind of awesome and it’s a shame that most people are unaware that it even exists.

Having served on a jury for two months ... I find it fascinating that it’s possible to do that. 
We were on a very long, multi-million dollar case, and it was very difficult to come to a decision that affected someone else’s life, even though he was completely guilty and a total douchenozzle. 
It’s hard to be a juror and make those decisions. You know the law. You’re told the law. You’re told what to expect. You’re told what is expected of you. You’re told to be impartial. You’re told to look at the facts and only the facts. But your vote, it affects both parties and their families. It’s hard to even lay a guilty verdict on a guilty person because you think of how it affects everyone else in their family.

That's true for New Hampshire. When you go for jury duty sometimes you get flyers handed to you. I think it makes sense because you are putting the law in the hands of these people so that's just a possible result of going that. I'd prefer if we found a better way than juries in general because I dont believe them to be very good at finding a verdict in most cases anyway.

I think it’s a good thing. A lot of times the punishment for petty crimes is way too harsh and it in turn ends up ruining people’s lives by having the charges follow them everywhere. If a jury feels someone does not deserve the punishment than they should have another option than just “guilty”.

I would use it in the case if a father beat up or hurt someone who raped his child. And these days I think it would be okay to use it in the case of someone using marijuana to combat the symptoms of aids or cancer.
