Blow job advice

I’m a rookie when it comes to bjs. I was forced into it once and now have negative views about them all together. I love to receive it but not give it which I know is really selfish. I know they aren’t all gonna be bad experiences but I can’t help but cringe at the thought of them. Now I am contemplated giving one and I have no idea what to do. Is he supposed to be standing, sitting, laying down? Do I do it when he is hard or while he is still mediocre soft? Is there such a thing as to much saliva? I don’t wanna be drooling all over the place or is that considered sexy? I don’t want to look like an idiot or make this anymore stressful than it’s already making me. Someone help
