What to expect going into a C-section?

I’m nervous. Terrified. I know I probably will have meds to make me not feel anything but I get reaaaaally bad anxiety sitting still. I’m not sure what to really expect going into this as its my first scheduled c-section (i gave birth vaginally in my first pregnancy)
Let me know any tips or what to expect going into this!💀

I wasn’t explained anything because I had to be rushed back quickly so I’ll try to tell what I remember happening lol. The spinal was administered (duh) and I was properly gowned up. On the way there, I started feeling super duper cold and shaky and hey told me that it was just due to the amount of medication that my body had in it. Once in the OR, they gave me a warm folded blanket to go across my arms though. They strapped my arms down so that I’d be even more still and that was basically it. Nothing was felt but my anxiety started kicking in really bad. I guess I was asking a bunch of questions and then at one point, I was saying that I could feel them working on me but I honestly have no recollection of that at all. Given that information though, they made the decision to put me under completely. Woke up a couple of hours later and got to meet my beautiful girl! That was basically it lol. Hopefully you’ll be luckier than I was following surgery though. I don’t know if my nurses were pissed off that night or if they weren’t aware that I had just been completely cut open but they were so SO rough. That was my only complaint. Moving me from the delivery suite bed and onto the postpartum room bed honestly felt like they had just thrown me. It hurt so bad. Also, if they don’t already give you an abdominal binder, ask for one or two. They’re absolute lifesavers.

I’ve had two c sections. The spinal didn’t hurt as much as everyone said it would to me. It was weird being numb from the chest down. They did tie my arms down, I wasn’t expecting that but not all hospitals do that. I was able to hold one of my sons right after he was cleaned up and they closed me up. My other was very premature so I didn’t see him until the next day. You don’t feel pain during it but you feel tugging and movement. It’s weird. Afterwards you will be in pain. Keep up with your pain meds for at least 5 days. If you don’t it’s really going to suck. Laughing and sneezing the first few days hurt like hell.

It will be painful afterwards, once you stand up and walk for a bit it will ease off. You may want to sleep sat up slightly, it helps you to get out of bed. Keep on top of your pain meds too. Recovery is not as bad as it used to be, they avoid cutting the muscles now.
