My MIL is an attention seeker, she’s the kind of person who checks herself at the hospital on Facebook. So of course when she found out she was going to be a grandma all she does it post about updates i give her. My ultra sounds, how far along i am etc. i don’t want her posting about it anymore. I don’t even update people that much

If you already announced it, I don't see why she can't announce it on her fb? Maybe she's just excited. Announcing anything before you do is a huge deal and I would never be ok with it. But if you've already announced it on fb, why can't she? If you weren't putting anything online that's one thing. But if you put it online then why can't she? I don't see the issue here. I made the same rule that no one could announce anything before I did or post pictures before I did. My own mother posted updates on me towards the end because I was so tired of trying to keep people updated while waiting for labor with baby #1 and with my c section with baby #2.

you did the right thing. when my baby is born, my husband will tell his mom no one is allowed to post or repost anything regarding our child on social media (other than him and I). my parents don't use social media.

I think it’s perfect and very reasonable. When my best friend had her baby, she asked her mom to text me to tell me and her mom added “please don’t mention anything on Facebook etc because M and R would like to be first to post any announcements.” I didn’t think anything of it, because I would NEVER post about someone else’s life event before them! (I didn’t even post about being engaged—ever lol! I’m not a Facebook junkie idk) I just figured she said that up everyone. 🤷‍♀️ It just seemed like a routine nbd message to get to me.

When I found out we were pregnant I told everyone who had social media please not to post about my pregnancy until after we did. We decided to wait until we knew the gender of our baby to announce it to anyone. Everyone respected our decision. Just explain to her how you feel about it.

I don’t think it’s mean. But i think it might be better coming from her son so she knows it’s a decision you’re serious about. Personally I feel as though situations regarding your family are ones you should handle to avoid causing hard feelings. For example my brother lived with me and my husband for a while. It ended up being too much and I let him know he’d have to move.  Coming from my husband that would’ve caused hard feelings

Ur mo in law was just excited and happy. She didn’t do it viciously of cos! Ur message to her was too confrontational and if I were u mo in law I would feel hurt 😔
