Should this Border Patrol agent be charge with murder
15-year veteran of Border Patrol shoots undocumented woman
Border Patrol has not officially identified the woman or the agent involved, who is said to be a 15-year veteran of Border Patrol.
According to the statement from the agency, the agent responded to illegal activity near the Centeno Lane Culvert in Rio Bravo when he discovered a group of undocumented immigrants and ordered them to get on the ground.
The agent says the group ignored his commands and instead rushed him. That’s when, according to the agent, he discharged one round from his firearm and shot the woman.
Border Patrol says first aid was rendered to the woman until fire authorities arrived.
Three undocumented immigrants were later apprehended by responding agents.
The case remains under investigation by the FBI and Texas Rangers.
The family of the undocumented woman has confirmed to CBS 4 News that their loved one who was killed was Claudia Gonzalez, a 19-year-old from Guatemala.
Gonzalez’s fiancé, Yosimar Morales, lives in the United States and says Claudia was on her way to meet up with him when the shooting occurred.
Now that the woman he loves is gone, all he wants is justice.
“I ask all the people who watch this video to support me in getting justice,” Morales said in a video.
