3 day old not nursing enough

My 3 day old seems to wake up and almost immediately want to go back to sleep. As soon as I put her on my breast she starts sleeping. She nursed for maybe 8-10 minutes on one side and falls asleep before I can offer the other side. Is this normal? The pediatrician said to nurse 8-10 minutes on each side in a feeding. She has had 3 dirty diapers so far today.
