Never lose hope

I’ve been bleeding for a solid 2 weeks and have had on and off cramping as well. Since I don’t have an OB just yet, I’ve been having to go to the ER for all blood work and such. The first time, I was 6 & a half weeks along and the doctors couldn’t see anything on the ultrasound aside from an empty gestational sac. With that, they were almost completely certain I was miscarrying. Still yet, they insisted on me returning 2-3 days afterwards for a beta hcg draw and that’s when I found out that my numbers were still rising appropriately. I made a return there today per my soon-to-OB’s office suggestions. Despite the ER being packed like a ton of sardines, they got me in really quickly and as soon as I mentioned the one-sided sharp cramps, they were quick to find the transportable ultrasound machine. The doctor wasn’t going to allow me to look at the screen because she already felt it was bad news... and that’s when she turned around with a surprised look and a smile on her face and said, “you hear that?”

And I saw baby bun’s heartbeat on the screen. A strong 167. I couldn’t hold back from tearing up because the entire drive there, I was preparing myself for the worst news so that it wouldn’t hit me so hard. I was certain that I’d lost the baby but was pleasantly surprised to find out the opposite.
