Did you fast before your gestational diabetes test?

My ob said I can eat protein things before but I always thought you had to fast... we’re you told the same and what did you do before your test? Mines on the 11th and I’m scared to mess it up. I use to have to take metformin as a fertility treatment because my blood sugar was higher than they would like to see (106-109 and they want below 99) I’m nervous I’m going to fail..

I never had to fast. From what I understand if you fail the first one then the second one is fasting. 
I ate a boiled egg and bacon before all of mine and was perfectly fine

Mine only said high protein breakfast 2 hours before the test and no sugar, like juices or fruits. I ate 2 eggs, a wheat toast and a glass of milk. I passed with great numbers.

I had scrambled egg on toast and some water because I HAVE to eat!! 
This pregnancy I’m so so so hungry that I trade everything for a meal out!! lol so I’m gonna fast this time in return for some ihop!! Lol also eating ihop after our gender scan!! I can’t wait lol!

I ate scrambled eggs only and water. I have experience because I had GD 2 of my 4 pregnancies. Protein helps your body process sugar. So eating protein might help you pass the test and also help you feel less sick to your stomach from the sugar. I'd avoid any carbs, even light carbs like toast, because carbs get processed in your body as sugar.

you don't need to fast for the 1 hr one. I just avoided sweet stuff beforehand.
