How do I find a pediatrician?

Ok so I'm 28 weeks. I know I should start looking for a pediatrician but I feel weird. What am I looking for? Also do you meet with them before you have the baby? Or when is the first appointment? Any advice is welcome!

Ask around and also ask your OB for Pediatrician recommendations. Mine had a list of them in the area that come highly recommended.

I was also confused about this when I was pregnant. My hospital had a consultant that came in to set up his health insurance and gave me a list off all the pediatricians around. It was very helpful. We love the pediatrician they referred us to

I found mine because i have a few friends of mine that bring their children there. I also researched and read there reviews. Make sure they take your insurance. I just called them and asked them whatever questions i had. Also, the pediatrician would not set up a appointment until i knew when the babies were getting discharged. I had preemie twins so i had a pediatrician appointment the day after they get discharged from the hospital i don’t know if that’s the same for full term babies.

My OB recommended a few. We interviewed them in person before hand and picked one we liked; our hospital also asked that we provide a pediatrician when we checked into the hospital.

I actually did google research and never met them before the first visit. We love love love our pediatrician too. You can also call around and find out when they are doing a meet up with new prospective parents. A lot of them have an evening event occasionally where you can meet them prior and decide based on that.

You can find someone through your insurance or you can Google Doctors near you and call to see if they take your insurance and if any Drs are taking new patients. I called at 38weeks, picked my doctor and they told me to call back for the appointment once you have the baby. they like to see new babies 1-3 after you leave the hospital.

You can ask family or friends if they have someone they like.  We searched doctors that were in the some hospital.  The hospital we used has a lot of doctor offices and what not throw out the area.
