Shy Boy Crush

Recently I have found out that I like this boy. He is pretty shy and he normally doesn’t talk out loud in class, only to his friends. I really like him and I have tried to text him and start a convo multiple times. I want to get to know him better over text because that is less awkward than in person, but I don’t wanna sound like a pest for texting him so much. What should I do?????????
