Any advice what is the different?

So, I'm sure I will get ridiculed asking this, but I'm a first time mom so give me a break.
What is the difference between kicks and contractions? My son is VERY low, and he is being more active than I have ever felt, the kicks have been constant for about 15 minutes...  Just want to make sure I know the difference between kicks/contractions.  I'm very uncomfortable at the moment...

You will absolutely know the difference. Contractions, when you are in for a real active labor, feels like HORRENDOUS menstrual cramps.

Contractions don’t feel like kicks. For me it was just constant, intense pain that lasted about a minute and occurred every 2-3 minutes. Hard to describe but definitely does not feel like kicks.

I haven't experienced labor yet, as I'm only 31+6 with my first, but kicks to me feel like he is literally kicking me. Contractions, from what I understand, should feel like a tightening feeling in your uterus.

Any advice what is the different?
