Maybe It's me, but this weird naming trend I'm seeing with mostly white people feels like appropriation. In the 90s lots of black kids were getting unique and difficult to spell or pronounce names. as a result many of the kids were insulted or made fun of for having a ghetto name, and not taken seriously. Even now I hear adult white people dismissing individual black people because of their unique names. Now it feels that all the sudden it's cool or trendy for white people to use weird and hard to spell and pronounce names. But it still isn't cool for black people to do in the same way.
