Im a med student and this procedure is medically unnecessary. No medical organization in the world recommends routine infant circumcision. Many doctors know the benefits of foreskin. It’s a mucus membrane and a muscle, it provides protection and sexual function, it is not just a “piece of skin”. Because we have been doing it for millions of years as a religious rite it has become more of a personal decision for most. Everything that you heard about its “cleaner” “its easier” “they should match the dad” “everyone does it” are all cultural myths. You are making a decision for your child that doesn’t have to be made by you. I would rather look at it as a cosmetic procedure and let my son decide for himself when he is older whether or not he would like the procedure done. The only person who should be making a decision is the person whose life and body this will most affect, which is your sons.

No!! Why on earth would you?? You wouldn’t even consider it for a little girl, so why is it ok for a boy? You’re essentially slicing off a piece of his genitalia. 
In the U.K. the vast majority of men do not have it done and there is no problem with hygiene etc. 
For genuine medical reasons I understand why it would be necessary but apart from that, why would you want to cut off a part of your baby sons body??

Sons father is uncircumcised and he chose to get our son circumcised to make it easier on him. Forskin can cause problems according to my SO, and he wishes his mom would of got him circumcised. So if this baby is another boy will do the same.

Personally I would have my son match his father.   So that would be my decision making other then it’s supposed to be cleaner and less risk of infection when circumcised.

I just dont understand why you would. Its considered abuse to remove parts of the female genetalia, but not male? The only reason to do it is looks. Pretty regularly men have issues as a result of having had a circumcision. Not to mention it reduces the number of nerves on the penis, effectivly reducing sexual function. Even as a woman, my partner is uncircumcised and I can tell a major difference during sex.

I loveeeeeeeee reading other people’s perspectives so much. A lot of times it provides me with a different mindset that I didn’t even explore. Please let’s be sweet and understanding to each other as we are all in this together💕💕💕. I am only 15 weeks along with my first and on a daily basis I get shamed for different daily decisions that I make.... I really don’t know why people care so much about what others do. No need to be a medical student or whatever to do what you believe is the right thing. 💕💕 
I am having a girl so I don’t have to worry about this for now but if it was a boy he would most certainly get circumcised. None of the men in my family were circumcised and my mother didn’t believe in this procedure but when she had my brother nobody took the time to clean it properly as a baby and then later on he developed issues with the skin not stretching properly. As a teenager he had to get it done and immediately he was so proud of his new member. He has absolutely no regrets, but one.... not doing it sooner, plus he loves (TMI) that it looks “bigger” lol. This is my personal experience and it is a valuable one that I would keep in mind if I had to ever decide.

When we found out we are pregnant with our little girl my husband said “thank god we don’t have to make the decision to circumcise a son or not.” Even though he is circumcised himself, I don’t think we could have made that decision easily. It’s definitely not something that should be taken lightly, in my opinion. If it were solely up to me I’d keep a son intact. 
I wish they’d just do away with it all together so this debate will end and we can save our sons and keep them the way they were made. Americans really aren’t as progressive as we’d like to think we are. Hahaha

My hubby isn’t and we won’t be doing our little man cause it’s not Medically needed and he will be taught how to clean it properly and the drs/ midwives also when born show how to treat it and clean it anyways so no need for us! My cousin had her little man done because his fathers dad had an issue when older and had it done when in his 20s so that I understand but it’s everyone’s choice what they decide !

My husband made the decision to circumcise both of our boys. I was leaning towards not doing it, but I dont know what it’s like to have a penis so I trusted his judgement.

I’m doing what his fathers is because he will teach him. I work in peds/maternity. A circumcision for a male should NOT be compared to a female. That is genital mutilation for a female done to not allow her to feel pleasure and keep her faithful! 
Once the initial circumcision, unlike females, males feel no repercussions of this once it heals. 
If you chose not to and your husband is circumcised he needs to research thoroughly with you how he’s going to teach him to pull back and keep it clean because that is an infection risk and he needs to know proper maintenance of you are doing him an injustice. 
Either decision is fine. Do what’s best for you and you feel is best for him and he’ll be fine regardless
